#operationgetridofbabybelly Goes Hiking

Week 2 of #operationgetridofbabybelly has completed.  The bad news is I've only dropped a pound.  the good news is I've dropped a pound.  A pound is a pound right?  I have to admit, it's slightly discouraging, but I feel better knowing I completed a full week of my c25k program and I fit in a bunch of strength training this week.  I'll go with that whole "muscle weighs more than fat" thing ;)  And my pants are just a tad bit looser.  I'll take it!  We also managed to fit in a hike this week.  In February.  I'm still a little shocked about that.  We tend to have long winters around here, so just the fact that there's no snow is surprising!  I was watching the weather all week and was so thankful when Saturday arrived with blue skies.

There are several hiking areas around here, but this particular place is the closest and pretty easy for little 4 year old legs.

And seriously, these views never get old even though I've spent 30ish years here!

We spent over 2 hours hiking, although much of it was taken up by stopping to take pictures...

Or to climb on every rock available.

And a sprinkle of teenage attitude thrown in.  Just kidding, I think she was showing off her rock throwing skills.

Every time we go we have to stop at the kids' favorite "cave", which really is nothing more than a rock formation that very slightly resembles a cave.  But it's tradition.

Plus they have to stop and fight off the dragons that keep coming back.

There a little spot that you can hike down to that we call "The Cove" and always stop at to have a little snack.

Because these bottomless pits can't survive long without some kind of food.

And of course there's the customary "let's throw a bunch of things into the water" time.

And of course this little one slept most of the time.  She woke up right at the end and had a blast looking at everything!  A little hiker in the making.

I gotta say, hiking around with a 20+ pound chunk of cuteness attached to you is a lot of work.  Especially uphill.  #operationgetridofbabybelly success!

PS - My back still hurts ;)

  1. Don't knock a pound. That means you burned 3500 more calories than you ate! I weigh in tomorrow and I'm hoping for a pound after a delicious retreat weekend with friends!
